THE RULES OF THE ROLL

02.

Each film entry must have a team captain. The captains are responsible for corresponding with TCR administrators. They are also the recipient of prizes, and are in charge of allocating prizes to other team members. Team captains must be at least 18 years old. Captains must also fill out a Submission Form, which can be downloaded below.

03.

Participants may contribute to multiple teams/projects, but are only allowed to be the captain of one (1) team. Teams may start pre-production at anytime but may not begin production until after their genre has been received. All music must be owned by the team captain. This can be original music or music that you have obtained the appropriate rights for. Artificial Intelligence (AI) may not be used as the overall medium for the film. It may, however, be used as an asset (for music or background element purposes only) to the film making process as long as all appropriate rights have been obtained. AI cannot be used for writing the script. For questions on this, please e-mail us.

04.

All actors must fill out and turn in a Talent Release Form, which can be downloaded on this page. Films that are turned in without all the necessary Talent Release Forms will be disqualified.

05.

Films must be no longer than 5-minutes in length, including the credits. Credits are not required.

06.

Genres are chosen by rolling dice during the Roll Off Event. Each team will state their genre from last year (if applicable), and then take a turn to roll the dice. Players do not have to accept the same genre as they did the prior year. Each team starts with the blue genre die. If they are satisfied with the result, they may decline rolling the purple modifier die. If the participant rolls the purple modifier die, the results of the purple die will cancel out the results of the blue die unless Prize or Pun-ishment are rolled. If pun-ishment is rolled, they must adhere to the penalty or lose 10 points.

07.

If physically absent from the Kickoff Event, participants may enter the competition by sending an email to receive a genre. Emailed genres are non-negotiable and will be given within 24-hours of the Kickoff Event. You may schedule a video call to determine your genre. Participants may roll anytime between the roll off date and the due date, but be warned that after April 1st, the results of a roll will be given when the Comedy Roll team is available to do so.

08.

You may submit films that are up to 3840p x 2160p at 24fps. Please do not shoot at 30fps. 1920px1080p is also accepted.

09.

No person, animal, place, or thing is to be harmed during the making of these films. Do not break any laws to create your film. Nudity in films is prohibited. Pornography, scenes of lewd sexual acts, and scenes of sexual assault are prohibited.

10.

Films must be submitted by 11:59pm on April 29th, 2024 to be a part of the competition. Entries may ONLY be submitted via Google Drive, WeTransfer, or Dropbox link emailed to info@comedyroll.com.

** The Comedy Roll Administrators reserve the right to refuse entries that are deemed inappropriate, are non-complacent with the official rules, have potential to harm TCR’s brand, or that don’t reflect the spirit of the competition.**
