The Comedy Roll was inspired by local legend Matt Busch who suggested that Michigan should have its own comedy film festival. Thankfully, the founder, Josh Taube, heard this statement and decided it was a brilliant idea.

Loosely inspired by Horror Film Roulette, The Comedy Roll takes similar elements where filmmakers have four weeks to film a 5 minute comedy film. The punchline? They have to roll the dice to find out what genre of comedy they’ll receive.
Hilarious, right?.

HOW THE COMEDY ROLL WORKS
Roll Dice
All teams start the competition by rolling a set of dice. One die determines the genre they will get while the other die will manipulate the final result.
Roll Film
Once their genres are determined, teams will have four weeks to write, shoot, and edit an (maximum) original five minute comedy film.
Roll On the Floor Laughing
The top 25 teams selected from the films competed will be able to see their films showcased in a movie theater to compete for the grand prize of $2,000!
